An Amber in the Ashes--Sabaa Tahir

      I have been gone for a while but I am back here again. I hope you didn't miss me. I have decided that I want to try write my blog on english from now on too . I was always considering it, but I didn't have the courage to try it for real. But where wolud we be if we didn't take risks? So today I was feeling a little bit more brave and decided that is the time to do more of what makes me happy. And that is talking about books with someone, in this case with you, is making me happy. Today I have decided to talk abaut my recent read, and that is An Amber in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

     So on Wednesday evening I have been feeling book hungry. I have had test on Monday and i needed to study. But we all know what happens when you shouldn't read because you have to do someting else, you want something, anything even just a small novel to read. I have started to resreach my next book buy. Then I have come across Sabaa's book. The blurb fascinated me, as well as the book trailer. But the book was a little bit to expencive for my taste, I am not usually buying books for their full price especially if they cost more then 100 kunas, which is about 14 euros, but I just could not leave it there. I am telling you she screamed my name, I am convinced. So are you wondering what is it about? And did I like it? Well here is your answer. I adored her. It was just perfect. 

    The book has two POV, which are the two lead characters Laia and Elias. Let's start with Laia, so  she lives on conqured land of Scholars. The land was conqured by Marital empire, and the people of Sholars land is being turned into slaves. Our main lead is leaving there with her grandma, grandad and her brother. Her mother, father and older sister where killed my Masks. One night their house is burned, her grandma and grandad are killed, and her brother is taken to the prison in one of the raids condacted by Masks. Then she is alone, with no relative, and no home. She then decides to join the Resistence move which is trying to dethrone the king, and make Scholar people free again. She thinks that they are her only chance to free her brother. 

  Our second main lead is Elias, he was chosen when he was around 6 yeras old by augurs to participate training in elite academy  so he could one day be a part of Masks. Masks is something slimilar to  elite police. They have a mix of army and police duties. But their main purpose is to make sure that the people in their country are obedient and do not cause any problems with the authority. Very few boys can be part of that academy, and just one girl a year. We met him when he has just one day until his graduation. But despite the fact that he is the best in his year, he does not see himself as being part of the Masks in future because he does not agree with what they are doing or their views on the Scholars or the slaves. He is planing an escape from academy. But there is one problem, no one has ever left the academy live, and even worse his own mother is the leader of the academy and she hates him. 

    This book has perfect combination of worldbudilng, romance, frendship and action. Although many say that the world in this book remind them on Roman Empire, to me it is more like Sparta. Set in deserted land, dry, highly miliarized,and diveded in classes. I do not won't to talk about it much longer because you just have to experience it on you own. Just go and read it, you will thank me later
